Quality of Life & Balance

Hello. Update!

Starting off with some…less…interesting…stuff. Is that how this works?

Stuff That Probably Should’ve Existed But Didn’t

  • Replaced Businessman research tree perk with Negotiator: +40/50/60/70% chance for Battlepass challenges to reward an extra 100 points
  • Shopkeepers now give some helpful advice to low prestige players
  • Made a variety of other changes to make it more obvious what new players should be doing
  • Removed /museum, it was cool, but outdated and daunting to its intended audience
  • Disabled Bounty Bump chat messages by default for new players
  • Added an introduction menu that appears on Prestiging, when the player gains access to new upgrades or mechanics
  • Added a clickable [INFO] box to Major Event chat announcements, which gives info on the event
  • Reworded “+1% fishing luck” to “+1% rune chance” and removed the chance to get an Emerald on kill

Jewel Balancing Jewels are a great choice for anyone in the mid-game or later, but they’ve been lacking some of the trade-offs that should exist with such superior gear. These changes aim to make people work to use jewels, rather than taking them for granted.

  • Unenchanting jewels now costs 2 Emerald Ore per enchant you remove
  • Promotion now has a maximum of 10 uses, with 1 use regenerating every 2 hours
  • New pants enchant: RARE! Divine Miracle - 15/30/45% chance to save lives on items on death. Divine Miracle only activates if you lose lives on death, so not if you’re using an Inventory Beacon.

New Map Castle map is here!

This map features abandoned mines, in an underground facility near the sewers, which are somewhere between the Summer Mine and the Hot Mine in terms of reward. You’ll experience coin and Mining XP buffs from ores here that you wouldn’t see in the Summer Mine.

This mine also features Iron Ore. Iron ore has a 20% chance of dropping a Pickaxe Upgrader, straight out of the iron age. Collect enough of these and you’ll be able to speak to Cody about going up a tier on your Pickaxe.

In addition, the sewers are here! Two chests are hiding in the sewers at a time. A variety of rewards are available, including XP, coins, Megacoins, Night Shards (only at night!), and Jewel Shards!

No one asked for these, but I’m sure someone’ll like it.

You can also enjoy the mobility of Forest with its ziplines to get you around.

With the introduction of the new map, the /givebread command has been removed. You can now gain a superior Yummy Bread by breaking wheat on both the Kings and Elements maps, and right clicking with a full stack of 64 to craft it.

The new bread grants a whole host of buffs:

Not good enough? The bread’s stats can be upgraded in the Enfuser. More on that later.

Megacoin Item Update Despite existing for some time, Megacoins don’t actually do much. That changes today with the Megacoin overhaul! Megacoins now have a cap by default of 10,000, meaning that’s the maximum that a player can own. However, this cap can be increased using a tiered Renown Upgrade, unlocked starting at Prestige XXX.

Your megacoins can now be spent on buying and investing in a variety of new goods in the Cookie NPC!

The Megastar, in its new form:

The old Megastar will continue to be tradeable but will not work. You can right click an existing Megastar to begin a migration process allowing you to tether it to yourself, letting you use and upgrade it in the new menu without purchasing it again.

Bank:

Bank’s upgrades allow you to store more XP and increase the XP cap. You can then spend coins to retrieve the XP stored.

Empathetic:

This passive upgrade gives multiplicative damage reduction against bots, unlike the additive damage reduction offered by most other sources. Multiplicative damage reduction should help on particularly high streaks in ways that additive reduction cannot.

The Enfuser:

The Enfuser allows you to select one of the perks granted by bread, letting you significantly increase its power. Experiment and find what suits your playstyle!

While these upgrades can look small at first, they will become significantly more powerful as they’re upgraded.

All items obtained from Megacoin features are untradeable. That means the new Megastar and Enfused Yummy Bread, to keep things balanced.

Alright fine, I know you were waiting for it. The Book of Megacoins. It does booky things. To megacoin things.

Enough said.

QOL Features and General Balancing Self explanatory.

  • XP and coin rewards in Fluffy’s Reward Chest now scale with prestige

  • Replaced the Super Uberdrop in the Reward Chest with a Megacoin reward

  • Added 23 new leaderboards, accessible from the new Stats rabbit in spawn. The new leaderboards include general stats (like bot kills and playtime), toxic stats (like lives taken from other players), and more!

  • The second and third Killstreak Perk slots are now unlocked at Prestige I and V

  • Buffed Booster Boots protection to VII

  • Mechanical Apprentice bot kills now contribute to your coin requirement

  • Removed the Prestige lock for Protection on Stylish Armor and Golden Helmets

  • Gold Boost, Gold Bump and Moctezuma now display ”$” instead of “g” for the currency

  • Cleared up some of the ridiculously long lore in the Research Tree

  • Gave all Mystic Bows the Infinity enchant

  • Team Destroy players waiting to respawn can now roam freely in Spectator mode

  • Nerfed Strong Pickaxe durability (640 -> 350 blocks)

  • Added Launchers to spawn

  • Removed the $100,000 First Aid Egg unlock

  • Cosmetic Boxes are now refunded if the player already has all available cosmetics

  • Reduced Streak messages (at 25 kills, then once every 25 -> 50 streak)

  • Nerfed Hunter and Tank guild perks (2% -> 1% per tier)

  • Changed Super Egg ability (1 effect per 50 kills -> 2 effects per 100 kills, effectively doubling the effects per life used)

They’re still rather eggspensive.

  • Made a number of improvements to bot realism

Feedback we’ve received has shown that XP grinding is generally less boring than coin grinding. To make the game more focused on XP, we’ve made the following changes:

  • Made some increases to the XP requirement and decreases to the coin requirement at Prestige XXXI and higher
  • Added level requirements for Killstreak Perk slots
  • Increased /trade and /pay level requirement to 70
  • Nerfed Plethora, it shouldn’t give more than regular kill XP outside of extreme scenarios (0.55x -> 0.45x per digit in the XP needed)

Trade Balancing The 200M daily coin limit is ridiculously high for new players, and quite often not enough for the top players, so here are some modifications.

  • The ability to trade coins is now unlocked at Prestige I
  • The coin trade limit now scales by prestige (20k at pres 1, 48k at pres 2, 96k at pres 3…246M at pres 50)
  • Added a new Renown Upgrade: “Greedy”. Increases daily coin trade limit by 5/5/10/10/20M for 5/10/20/40/70 Renown, unlocked at Prestige XXVIII

Bug Fixes Most of these fixes were made prior to this update, but they deserve their spotlight.

  • Fixed an issue occasionally causing existing guild data to be overwritten by new guilds (thanks to Benny & others for reporting)
  • Fixed a rare visual issue of perk or enchant lore failing to fully load (thanks to a variety of people for reporting)
  • Fixed the Mystic Well directing to incorrect menus when pressing “Go Back” in certain situations (thanks to Dzeerk for reporting)
  • Removed a workaround enabling the coinflipping of offline players, deleting the coins of both players
  • Fixed base speed modifiers (Dash Rune, Tactical Retreat) being slow to update or not updating at all (thanks to Willewallewill for reporting)
  • Fixed bow trails removing the fully charged status of arrows (thanks to Stylo for reporting)
  • Fixed a rare chance for Coin Capsules to not properly initiate, creating an error message and preventing them from being redeemed
  • Fixed /vote messages showing the player’s name in lowercase with no rank
  • Fixed a bug causing damage to go through absorption hearts if the player’s health is low enough for them to die from that damage

Patch notes from this stretch

Smaller updates and balance changes that followed, pulled from the announcements channel:

November 26, 2022

A few changes to jewels in response to the feedback. The nerfs to them weren’t intended to be the main focus of the update at all, but admittedly they may have gone over what was necessary.

  • Divine Intervention and Divine Miracle will now save your Promotion uses when proccing
  • Increased the Promotion use limit from 10 to 20
  • Promotion refill time reduced from 2 hours to 30 minutes
  • Clarified the Promotion renown upgrade lore
  • Added Refill Tokens
    • These are obtained from the Battlepass, and
    • from Sewer Chests (0.1% chance)

Assuming average luck, using Divine Intervention and Divine Miracle can now get you ~36 Promotion uses per 10 hours. Feels a little high, so will see if any further changes are needed in the next few days.

December 5, 2022

  • Buffed Magma Cube Super Egg effect
  • Lower bot max health from 12 -> 11
  • Increase player kill XP and coins
