The Contractor Rework

This update primarily aims to improve Perk unlocks from contracts, a longstanding point of contention for its unusually grindy and uninspiring requirements. It also has some PvP-focused balancing and minor changes to late-game Encrusted Caches. If you care about any of those things, read on!

Contractor Rework

On their original release, contracts were necessarily long to give players something to do until more content was added. Obviously, we’re now far past that point. Our specific implementation also restricted most people (who I’m told have lives and other responsibilities) from finding this system rewarding.

So, a breakdown of the main changes:

  • The Contractor is now unlocked at Prestige VI
  • All completion requirements are significantly lowered
  • Contracts are now free to start
  • Players can choose between 3 random contract options
  • Contracts expire after 7 days if not completed
  • Added an 18h cooldown between starting new contracts

In addition, 5 new contract options have been added! We hope all of these changes make the Perk system more reasonable to the average player, while also allowing them to do the activities they most enjoy while unlocking them.

PvP (and related) balance changes:

  • Mammoth now instead reduces healing from all sources by 40%
  • Reworked Apothecary (applies Slowness I/I/I for 3/4/5s -> I/II/II for 1/2/3s)
  • Buffed Vortex range (2.5/3.5/4.5 -> 5/6/7 blocks)
  • Buffed Nightcloak (40/50/70% -> 55/65/85% damage, reduced activation calculation)
  • Reworked Combo: Annihilate (rebuffed hit requirement 6/6/5 -> 5/5/4, now instead deals true damage)
  • Increased time between Combo: Artillery shots
  • Reworked Blockbuster (7s -> 15s cooldown, 0.4s -> 1s activation time, 1.5/3/4.5 -> 40/50/60% of enemy’s current health damage dealt, reduced hit tick cooldown after proc)
  • Battle Cry now resets on players you haven’t hit in at least 8s
  • Reworked Momentum (+5/7/10% -> +7/10/13% speed per hit, max 30/35/40% -> 30/30/30%)
  • Capped base speed increase between all sources at 60%
  • Added a Divine Protection toggle cooldown, replacing The Pact’s toggle cooldown

Other balancing:

  • Converted Free Shot from a Renown Upgrade to a passive within Rocky
  • Tryhard Bots no longer have resistance to true damage
  • Can no longer enter mid during a boss fight
  • Rebalanced Encrusted Caches (higher chance for duplicate enchant books not to be replaced, removed Starless Ash and Blessing Tomes from the duplicate pool, added Obelisk Alloys to the duplicate pool)
  • Added and increased Scrap Bundle drop chance from lower tier Mystery Boxes
  • Replaced MVP+ Battlepass points per 30m with 2x Battlepass challenge progress speed

QOL changes:

  • Redesigned Rocky UI - now has a sub-menu for passive upgrades, allowing Blessings and Trinkets to be moved to a less cluttered space
  • Fully lowercase Guild tags are now supported
  • Added a Resurrectors Used leaderboard

December 4, 2025

Recent changes:

  • Increased Mastery Point cap (20 -> 40) and Megacoin cap (default 10k -> 20k)
  • Added a confirmation for purchasing Bank XP
  • Compressed incubated Super Eggs now have 100 uses instead of 50
  • Displayed Riftslayer Crown floats now accumulate (i.e. a Tier 2 now has a max float of 2), to more clearly display float progression between tier upgrades
  • Increased blessing time cap (2 -> 10 weeks)
  • Removed max concurrent pushed perks (the cap of 1 active when equipped is still in place)
  • Snow Shooter true damage now counts toward Sacred Surge
  • Added a toggle for month-specific leaderboards to the Rabbit
  • Re-added /pv

December 12, 2025

Recent changes:

  • Curses now have an increased chance to have modifiers compared to standard bosses

  • Upgraded Random Curses in the Ingame Store to Random Super Curses (has a further increased modifier chance)

  • Lowered Curse Meter progress from boss kills (250 -> 100)

  • Curse bosses can now be fought while in a Party Rewards are modestly decreased per player participating.

  • Removed the max health reduction on Chaos phases for simplicity (the damage of some debuffs has been rebalanced accordingly) Specific rebalances: Fire Pits 4.5 -> 6 hearts, Void Hole 7 -> 9 hearts, Stormtouched Snake 0.75 -> 1 hearts, Demon Bot 0.2 -> 0.25 hearts per hit. Eldtrich Horrors unchanged.

  • Added a quick enchant toggle in the Mystic Well (random enchanting always increases an item to Tier III)

  • Added a Soulshredder debuff info GUI on right clicking the Megastreak

  • Trinket evolutions can now be toggled

  • Re-added open last/next vault options

  • Removed Ring Makers

  • Greatly increased mid-late game coin trade limits

  • Coin Capsules are now auto-redeemed on trade completion

  • Removed vanilla speed cap while in middle

  • Tryhard Bots no longer have funky min-max damage logic

  • Added a new Pants RES! enchant

  • Buffed Gamble (damage is now only doubled when DEALT to bots, rather than hitting bots)

  • Reworked Combo: Ladder (4/8/12% -> 6/10/15% damage per stack, 10 -> 6 max stacks)

  • Nerfed Vortex (7/6/4s -> 7/7/7s cooldown, capped vertical pull strength)

  • Fixed Excavator daily drop cap

  • Buffed chance for Legendaries and Mythics at the dig site

January 5, 2026

  • Players with special enchants (i.e. unlockable with books) can now select them in Enchant Tomes and Philosopher’s Cacti, and discover them in Jewels
  • Can now use UUIDs in /guild commands and some other areas
  • Extraction Points are now solely to extract Soul Shards (a Promotion use is still lost if entering spawn with a Megastreak)
  • Nerfed Bounty Bottler: Now reduces bounty bumps by 75/85/95%, damage reduction from bounties 0/10/15% -> 5/10/15%
  • Reworked Glass Cannon: Deals 0.5/1/1.5 hearts of true damage per hit
  • Reworked Self-checkout: Removed Renown bonus, replaced with 40/80/120 Mastery XP
  • Nerfed Blockbuster: 40/50/60% -> 35/45/50% of current health damage
  • You must now stay within an Extraction Point’s radius for its full charge time for it to activate

January 8, 2026

Added kill resource stat info - enable chat kill messages and click on any message with an option to view stats to view the full calculations!

  • A bug with this feature reducing resource gain has been patched and servers are currently restarting to address it.

  • Added Random Tier 2 (and even more rarely Tier 3) Riftslayer Crowns to the Spectral Market

  • Egg Incubator heat now costs 100 Megacoins per

  • Increased Megastar max level to 85 and Empathetic max level to 60

  • Reduced Riftwalker Mastery Tree perk Prestige requirements: Energetic: Prestige LXIV -> LXIII Out of Time: Prestige LXVII -> LXIV Long Live the Riftslayer: Prestige LXVIII -> LXVI

  • Added new Riftwalker Mastery Tree Perk: Deal with the Devil - Grants a 6.66% chance to gain +6 Streak per tier from kills

Enchant balance changes:

  • Buffed Revengeance (20/25/30% -> 30/45/60% damage, added 90s time limit)
  • Buffed Index Fund (+1.2/1.8/2.5 -> +5/10/15 Coin Cap per digit in Coins)
  • Buffed Chipping (0.25/0.5/1 -> 0.5/1/1.5 true damage)
  • Buffed Boo-boo (1/1.5/2 -> 1.5/2/2.5 hearts healed per 5s)
  • Reworked Bruiser (blocking now empowers your next hit with +8/16/24% damage, removed blocked damage reflection)
  • Reworked Combo: Heal (0.4/0.6/1 -> 0.4/0.6/0.8 health, 0.4/0.6/1 -> 0.5/1/1.5 absorption)
  • Buffed Mega Longbow (tier 3 now gives 2 -> 3s of Jump Boost IV)
  • Nerfed Telebow (-3 -> -2s cooldown per bow hit)
  • Buffed Resistance (0.5 -> 0.3 very true damage taken per hit)
  • Reworked Pullbow (cooldown is now per player, increased tier 3 and 4 cooldown 6 -> 7 seconds)
  • Reworked RGM (reduced tier 2 and 3 hits needed 4 -> 3 in a row, reduced damage per proc 8% -> 5%)
  • Nerfed Paparazzi (takes 2 -> 3 lives per use)
  • Buffed Prick (tier 2 and 3 now also deduct 0.1/0.2 damage taken)
  • Buffed Shadowdance (3/6/9% -> 4/8/12% chance, +15/20/25% -> +20/25/30% speed)
  • Buffed Momentum (cap increased 30% -> 40%)
  • Reworked Quadrillionaire (all tiers now have +100% base damage, gives +1/1.5/2% damage per digit in Coins)

Other balance changes:

  • Buffed Leech (every 15 -> 10 Streak)
  • Nerfed Power Surge (10/20/30/35% -> 8/16/24/32% ability time reduction)
  • Nerfed Gilded max Coin Cap multiplier from Gilds (+200% -> +175%)
  • Added Poison Rune: Every 2nd hit applies a stack of Poison for 8s up to 10 stacks max. Each stack deals 0.05/0.075/0.15/0.25 very true damage per second (halved for additional runes)

Everything else:

  • Shark now displays its damage cap in the lore (this is not a balance change!)
  • Added a chance for Apocalyptic Uberdrops in the Reward Chest at Prestige 50+
  • Replaced free Battlepass level 26 and 32 Coin rewards with Random Rune Containers

January 16, 2026

  • Fixed random Spectral Market items sometimes giving a Random Crown display item If you have one of these, putting it in your inventory and switching lobbies should turn it to a real Crown.

  • Nerfed Poison Rune (2 -> 3 hits per proc)

  • Applying a Crown Attribute Crystal to a Crown with a Rune Slot will now remove any previously equipped rune

January 19, 2026

Play with a minimum of 50 bots (plus earn hundreds of bonus Apocalyptic Uberdrops at Prestige 45+) in the Top Treasures event for the next 2 weeks!

Event currency is earned through the Event Shop and Reward Chests. We’ve also brought back teams of up to 3 players!

Not-particularly-important-other-stuff:

  • Re-added the ability to insert inventory boss drops into Boss Pouch
  • Eggs will now still be incubated while the Egg Incubator is upgrading
  • Increased base XP kill reward (20 -> 40) *next server restart

We’re investigating server issues (mainly random kicks) in response to polls. Reviewing the results of each potential fix takes some time - one was implemented this morning - so please do help us out by letting us know periodically if you’re still experiencing these.

February 1, 2026

Effective next server restart:

  • Added /ac - sends message in lobby chat while having a different default chat selected

  • Fixed Protection Glyphs disappearing and making the boss fight impossible

  • Increased coinflip cap (100m -> 1b)

  • Infernal Ritual no longer deals damage to players in Chaos mode

  • Fixed Assassin 2 and 3 not proccing

  • Parasite (now has 1.5s cd) is now available on normal bows, removed Healing Bow Renown Upgrade

  • Lowered Explosive 3 cd (5 -> 3s), now pushes further

  • Buffed Combo: Stun (8s -> 7s cd)

  • Peroxide’s cooldown is now affected by Power Surge

Some of the above changes may require a server restart!
